The Kittatinny Gobblers Chapter will be hosting our TENTH ANNUAL Hunting Heritage Fund Raiser. This event raises money for the Heritage Fund and is used here in New Jersey.

In addition to funding wildife managent and research, the fund pays for conservation seed - seed that provides food and cover for wildlife; the fund provides scholarship money to students who only have to have a hunting license to qualify; the fund pays for habitat improvement, and aquisition; the fund sponsors WITO, Wheelin' Sportsmen and JAKES events, and the fund is used to help the community.

We can use your help!

If you are a turkey hunter and enjoy the success and access to turkey hunting in New Jersey, you can thank the NWTF. The NWTF has been an oustanding supporter to the NJ Div of Fish and Wildlife in bringing back this magnificent game bird.

The Kittatinny Gobblers has only a few volunteers doing all the work of putting on our fundraisers. We can always use a few more volunteers to lighten the load.

What is needed? We need volunteers to help with setup and running our banquet. We need people to help sell tickets. If we had a committee of 10, we could easily sell 100 tickets. IF we had a committee of 15, we could sell that many more and run our banquet smoothly without being short-handed.

So, if you are not too busy to give back to the sport you love, please come and join us to make your sport even better. For information please contact one of the following:

The Kittatinny Gobblers would like thank all who joined us last August and participated in the FIFTH ANNUAL NORTH JERSEY OPEN, NWTF Sanctioned Turkey Calling Contest, held at the New Jersey State Fair, Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ.

This year's group of contestants was slighly smaller than last year's but we still had new champions in the Open and Amateur Divisions. We are hoping to make this the premier calling event in the state and hope to attract callers from all over the tri-state area. This year we had callers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Vermont.

This year, our sponsor opted out, so prize money was generated from the registration fees. Unfortunately, we were unable to fund a $500 First Prize. However, we are working to gain new sponsors for the 2010 contest.

We would like to give credit to the
New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen
who helped to organize and promote this year's event. In addtition to manning an exhibition tent with various wildife groups, they provide us space for our displays.

We must also thank the Sussex County Fairgrounds and New Jersey Sate Fair Personnel, who are providing us with the venu and the time slot for the contest and for helping us set up the calling area for the contest.
